Aboriginal Family Violence Program (AFVP)

Key Access/Referral Points: (24hours) ACJP/ Police; 9am-5pm RAC Justice Unit & RAC Services

The AFVP was established at Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative in 2009. The program is funded by DHS and focuses on delivering support services to Aboriginal women and children (under 18) experiencing family violence and to Aboriginal men who use violence against family members.

Youth Cultcha Program

Referral/Access Point: 9am-5pm RAC Justice Unit

The Youth Cultcha Program provides young people (15-17) who have contact with the Justice System and/or are at risk of entering the Justice System with the opportunity to engage in educational & cultural activities that provide ways to reduce offending behaviour, and alternatives to engaging in anti-social behaviour.

Night Patrol Program

The Night Patrol Program is funded by the Department of Justice to provide a transport service for Aboriginal people to reduce the risk of coming into negative contact with Police and to reduce the likelihood of participating in risk taking behaviour.
The program operates Friday & Saturday nights 10.30pm—2.00am all year round.
Primary pick up points: Queens Gardens Shepparton, Skate Park Shepparton, around every 1/2 hour unless transporting people

Koori Youth Justice Program (KYJP)

Referral/Access Point: 9am-5pm RAC Justice Unit; DHS Youth Justice and YJ Children’s Court Advice Service Worker

The KYJP program is funded by DHS and provides services to young Aboriginal people who are Statutory and/or Voluntary clients.
Statutory Clients
Young Aboriginal people (10-23) who are subject to court orders (criminal) who are managed by DHS Youth Justice
Voluntary Clients
Young Aboriginal people (10-17) (inclusive) who are in contact with Police, ACJP, and/or appearing at the Children’s Court

Community Work Program (CWP)

Referral/Access Point: 9am-5pm Community Correctional Services (Shepparton)

The CWP compliments the KOSMP and aims to strengthen the support for successful completion of Justice Orders through providing access to sites for Community Work. The program is voluntary and also provides an entry point for information & referral to a range of support services.

Koori Offender Support & Mentoring Program (KOSMP)

Referral/Access Point: 9am-5pm Community Correctional Services (Shepparton)

The KOSMP is funded by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and aims to improve justice outcomes through supporting Aboriginal men and women (adults 18 and over) to successfully complete their Community Based Dispositions (Justice Orders). The program is voluntary and all support provided must relate directly to meeting the conditions of orders and/or addressing offending behaviour.

Aboriginal Community Justice Panel Program (ACJP)

Referral/Access Point: (24hours) ACJP & Vic Police

The ACJP was officially created in 1988 by the Victorian Government with funding auspiced through Victoria Police to provide support to Aboriginal people whilst in custody and for Justice related matters. ACJP is a community based initiative which provides support to communities and individuals needing assistance in Justice related matters. The ACJP takes a diversionary role in supporting preventative initiatives as well as providing direct support through a “Call Out” service to individuals held in police custody.
